OUR ORIGIN STORY

THE TALL TALL TALE OF DIXIE & BASS

A reoccurring theme woven throughout history’s most beloved narratives is the tale of the unlikely duo. The opposing personalities that unexpectedly complement each other. We embrace this theme as it is all around us, it is familiar yet serendipitous. There is implicit beauty in opposites attracting and it inspired us to create a wine that embodied this anomaly. We are captivated by the human truth that we are ultimately more similar than we are different.

From there, Dixie & Bass was born.

MEET THE ARTIST

WINE IS ART

R.R. Clark a.ka. Fishboy was born in Boise, Idaho, where his passion for drawing began in childhood and never faded. In the early 1970s, he spent time in Seattle studying at the Factory of Visual Art before making his way along the West Coast, living in places such as the San Juan Islands in Washington, Newport, Oregon, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco. For the past twenty-five years, he has been an active and respected member of the arts community in Bellingham, Washington, which he now calls home.

Working primarily on wood—often reclaimed—Clark uses recycled latex house paint enhanced with acrylics to create vibrant, whimsical, and thought-provoking pieces.

PREMIUM WASHINGTON VITICULTURE

THE BEST OF COLUMBIA VALLEY

Columbia Valley is Washington’s largest winegrowing region, spanning more than 11 million acres. Its combination of controlled irrigation and consistently warm, dry growing seasons gives vintners a high degree of influence over grape development. Located at 46° north latitude, the same as many of Europe’s most renowned wine regions, Columbia Valley offers ideal conditions for producing exceptional wines.

AWARD-WINNING

WINEMAKING TEAM

Josh Maloney earned a chemistry degree from Cornell University and began his winemaking career in New York’s Finger Lakes before moving west to Napa Valley, where he worked at Stags’ Leap Winery and other renowned wineries. He later joined Chateau Ste. Michelle as red winemaker and was drawn to Washington’s exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. Over the past 20 years, Josh has earned more than 150 scores of 90+ points from leading wine critics.

Tyler Tennyson, a Washington native and University of Washington graduate, entered the wine industry after a career in commercial real estate brought him to Walla Walla to study enology and viticulture. He gained hands-on experience at Dusted Valley before serving in winemaking roles at Seven Hills Winery, Gordon Estate, Dunham Cellars, and the Corliss family of wineries. Today, Tyler focuses on consulting and co-owns Girl and Pop Family Wines with his wife Chelsea, a Walla Walla-based project specializing in handcrafted sparkling wines.

THE SISTER LABEL

CAPITAL CALL VINTNERS

A bit more of a classy affair, with strong financial themed labels, Capital Call is a Washington State wine project founded by Steve Bruere and Alan Busacca, focused on small-lot, vineyard-driven wines sourced primarily from Red Mountain, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley AVA, and the Columbia Gorge AVA.

The brand emphasizes site expression and structure, working closely with select vineyard partners to produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and other Bordeaux and Rhône varietals that reflect the intensity and balance of Eastern Washington fruit.

Production is intentionally limited, with a focus on precise winemaking, extended barrel aging, and blends built for depth and longevity rather than volume. The result is a portfolio defined by regional character, consistency, and a restrained, modern interpretation of Washington wine.
